What drives Tim: a deep belief that strong and collaborative nonprofits are vital to a thriving and equitable New Hampshire, New England and world.

With two decades of leadership experience in social impact, Tim Smith-Gerding has helped hundreds of diverse organizations grow and thrive. Tim specializes in Strategic Planning, Interim Leadership, Executive Coaching and Facilitation. He asks the hard questions, elevates community voices and experiences, and convenes diverse stakeholders towards ambitious social impact goals. Tim has facilitated short-term and long-term strategic planning for organizations with budget sizes of $100k-$25M and raised 7-figure major gifts for various causes and organizations.

Prior to consulting, Tim held leadership roles at Full Circle Fund, the Boston Foundation and Tides. He has been an Executive Director, Head of Programs, Community Organizer, Funder and Fundraiser. Tim brings all of these perspectives to client partnerships.

Fluent in Spanish and a first-generation college graduate, Tim has worked to build more equitable communities and systems since his teenage years. He has studied at Harvard Business School, the University of San Francisco and Colby College. Tim has completed racial equity, facilitation, and DEIB training with Stanford, The Interaction Institute for Social Change and YW. Tim is a Leadership NH Class of 2025 Fellow.

Tim’s social impact work has been featured in Stanford Social Innovation Review, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, the Boston Globe (Social Impact GameChanger), Boston Business Journal, and SF Business Times. He has served on over 15 nonprofit boards in the last two decades, focusing mostly on philanthropy, mental health and workforce development.


Tim lives in Concord, New Hampshire and works throughout New England (and remotely). He enjoys reading and writing poetry, working out, self-care and making people laugh and smile. He can often be found researching Parkinson’s Disease and dementia in hopes of helping his mother and others impacted by this dual diagnosis.
